Inspired by the Vanda Miss Joaquim, the Junmai Dainginjo Ran (Orchid) is a commemorative sake brewed with yeast drawn from the Cattleya Orchid. It was brewed in Yamanashi, Japan by Takenoi Brewery, one of the around 30 breweries in Japan which can utilize flower based yeast in brewing. It is also brewed with 1st grade Omachi rice and a water from one of the Meisui-hyakusen (名水百選, top 100 water sources in Japan).

Junmai Daiginjo Ran-Orchid is a special sake brewed to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Singapore-Japan bilateral ties. Alluding to Singapore’s Vanda Miss Joaquim, it is brewed with yeast extracted from the Cattleya orchid flower – a technique usable by only 30 out of more than 1000 breweries in Japan.

First-grade Omachi rice, made specifically for sake brewing, is refined down to 50% and brewed with the waters of the Sanbuichi water springs – a famed sake water source recorded in the top 100 water sources in Japan (名水百選) to create this brew.

The orchid yeast lends the brew a floral flourish, with a strong, full body reminiscent of Singapore as a country.

Please enjoy this masterpiece, born from interplay between Takenoi brewery’s cutting-edge brewing technique, their 150 year long tradition and the rich nature that surrounds them in the Yatsugatake mountain range in Yamanashi, Japan.
